Your Dork summer beauty survivial kit

June 16, 2014 By Jillian Boyd

Since moving to the UK, I’ve learned one essential thing: when it comes to the weather, always be prepared. Summer’s just around the corner, and with the skies apparently unable to decide whether they want to give us rain or sun, being prepared is kind of essential.

I’ve found a couple of beauty products that, depending on what you’re getting up to this summer, can be an absolute beauty bag live saver.

A range of Soltan sun protection creams
Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray
Too Faced Melted Lipstick

A range of Batiste dry shampoos
Daisy Delight by Marc Jacobs
RayBan sunglasses

Sunscreen

Remember kids, always wear sunscreen…

If you’re prone to turning red instead of getting a nice, glowing tan, then sunscreen needs to be in your bag at all times. Even if you’re not, then it still needs to be because sun burn is not something you want as a souvenir from the beautiful weather. Time for me to get the Factor 50 (!) out then…
Soltan Family Pack Suncare – £13.99 from Boots

Urban Decay Chill Make-Up Setting Spray

Make-up plus heat is not a good combination. So, thank god then for Urban Decay, who may have just invented my favourite beauty product of the summer. Their make-up setting spray features time release temperature control technology – which means that the day goes on, it lowers the temperature of your make-up to prevent it from smudging for about 12 hours.

I’d definitely say that this is an essential piece of kit if you’re hitting the festivals this summer. Or the beach. Or going trekking. Anywhere, really.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick

Liquified long wear lipstick. It sounds like a mouthful, really. But this lipstick (by Too Faced) is another one of those summer make-up staples. Worried about your lipstick smudging or melting? This lipstick’s already melted. It lasts all day, and comes in a bunch incredibly vibrant shades. Pack it in your festival bag with the Urban Decay setting spray.
Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipsticks – £12.37 on Amazon

An extra large can of Batiste dry shampoo

Another festival essential. Get an extra large can of this beauty behemoth, and keep your hair looking decent during your summer holiday.
Batiste Large Cans – £3.33 a piece at Boots

A suitably summery scent

I absolutely love a nice, flowery perfume, and you’re basically spoilt for choice if you’re in the market for the scent of summer. Favourites include Marc Jacobs Daisy Delight Edition, Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb and Balenciaga Florabotanica.

Sunglasses

Speaks for itself, really. Like sunscreen, sunglasses are basically a must. There are plenty of pairs to choose from, and I’m sure you can find a style that’s exactly you.
