We all know about the importance of staying safe during sex, but what about being ethical? Possibly not top of your list of priorities when you’re about to make sweet love, but stay with us.

The fair-trade and ethical sex toy market is a small but growing niche in an increasingly green society. One website that’s cottoned onto this is Birds & Bees, who offers a selection of ethical and pretty underwear, condoms and lubricants at affordable prices.

Fairtrade rubbers

These French Letter condoms on the right comes in a pretty package (not dissimilar to a posh soap brand) and they’re made from fairtrade and FSC certified rubber.

They’re also free of any animal-derived materials, so they’re suitable for the vegetarian or vegan in your life.

They’re not particularly cheap at £8.99 for 12, but surely that’s a price worth paying for peace of mind. You can get them from the Birds & Bees website.

The contraception market is seriously lacking in decent-looking condoms. Admittedly, it’s not the most exciting thing to use, but it’s pretty essential for obvious reasons.

I came across these Pasante Halo Condoms from LoveHoney a while ago. Each pack comes with 18 individually designed condoms. The wrappers include flocked wallpaper designs, car speed dials and butterflies.
