The Mixels: Series 5 review

June 8, 2015 By Alex Milway

This chap is Chilbo, and I love his eyebrows and goofy teeth!

I love the Mixels, as I’ve said before, so it’s brilliant to see Series 5. All these fabulous creatures keep my daughter busy for hours, and they get a big thumbs up.

Again, LEGO’s really tried to make the most of the existing bricks and shapes available to them, and somehow manage to get all sorts of different characteristics. It’s a really versatile monster-making medium, but then after 35 or so years building practice, I guess I knew that already.
As a children’s writer, I like making up a good name, and there are some crackers here – Jinky, Turg, Nixels, Chilbo, to mention but a few. I guess the names are all a part of it, and that’s the joy of Mixels – they’re pure LEGO, not a pre-existing brand, turned into brightly coloured blocks.
I like these long-tongued mixels. Great character!

And of course, you can put the sets together and max them out as massive Mixels.
Great stuff. Keep them coming!
More floppy tongue action!

And thanks to LEGO for sending us sets to look at.
