Get crafting for Mother’s Day

March 12, 2012 By Michelle

Mothers, where would we be without them?

If you want to show your mother how special she is to you on Mother’s Day this year, why not embrace your inner child and get crafting?

Time may be running out but never fear, we have scoured the internet to share some of our very favourite, super-simple tutorials guaranteed to make your mother’s heart swell as much as any handmade trinkets you gave her as a child.

We’re nice like that.

Dork Adore Mothers Day Craft Projects

1. For the fashionista mother

Impress your style loving mother by whipping her up a beautiful Liberty Scarf with this easy peasy tutorial from The Purl Bee. If you can’t get your mitts on any Liberty fabric, this project should work just as well with any lightweight printed cotton.

2. For the pamper-loving mother

If your mum loves nothing more than a nice relaxing pamper session we are pretty sure she’ll be rather impressed by this scrumptious-sounding homemade Ginger and Coconut Oil Sugar Body Scrub from the lovely folks at Food For My Family. Whip her up a batch, you’ll probably have most of the ingredients hanging around it your kitchen, pop it in a lovely glass container and you’re done!

3.For the caffeine-fuelled mother

Running around after your kids all day, be they big or small, is pretty exhausting work. Encourage your mum to sit down and put her feet up for a change with here wonderful projects from A Beautiful Mess. Sweeten up her well-earned coffee break with these DIY Coffee Syrups or create a personalised tea blend just for her AND make your own tea bags.

4. For the cool and quirky mother

This DIY Pixel Heart Necklace from How About Orange would make the perfect gift for all those jewellery-loving, geeky mums out there. This project could also easily be turned from a necklace into a brooch by simply replacing the chain with a brooch pin back glued firmly on the back.
