Where to find bargain designer clothes online

Designer stores scare me. Snooty shop assistants, ultra-organised and therefore intimidating rails, and huge price tags have me running for the high street faster than you can say “so this season”

The thing is, after years of buying cheap and cheerful high street clothes, I want to start investing in a few high quality designer pieces. Sample sales are one of the best ways to access designer pieces at affordable prices, but they’re not particularly accessible to those of us living outside the big cities.

Thankfully, there are now plenty of websites with private sales, so you can pick up a bargain from the comfort of your own home. For your surfing pleasure, I’ve created a round up of all the top websites to bookmark next time you’re on the hunt for a retail treat.

Corioliss Floral Vintage Dryer. Dork Review

Corioliss Floral Vintage Dryer. Dork Review

I don’t know about you but I’m always a bit disappointed with hairdryers in hotels – not to mention when I go to stay with my mum, who is still using one from of the seventies – so I usually lug my own along with me. It’s a great big, years-old hefty thug of a hairdryer, but the reason I like it is because it’s powerful, and you can’t... Read

Diva Professional Styling Bullet Straightener: Dork Review

Diva Professional Styling Bullet Straightener: Dork Review

Another year, another hair tool released to rival GHD. This time, it’s the turn of the Bullet Hair Straighteners from Diva Professional Styling, who have kindly sent over a pair to test out on my unruly, thick hair. This hair tool claims to bring “curling and straightening together in a way never seen before” Let’s put that... Read

Dork review: YOGI Hair Wand

Dork review: YOGI Hair Wand

I’m not a particularly high-maintenance girl (I work at home, I live in the countryside, the only person I see all day is my dog – and yes, I realise she’s not technically a person either) but when I go out (infrequently) I like to make an effort with my hair and do possess a pair of GHDs. The thing is, I can’t get them to work... Read

Dork Review: Clarisonic skin therapy system

Dork Review: Clarisonic skin therapy system

Reviewing the Neutrogena Wave recently, I realised that while I might not be a big fan of the product in question, I do like the concept. I was approached to test the Clarisonic Plus Skin Care System & Spot Therapy Kit, which works on the face and body. A little more interesting than the humble loofah, but how does it compare to the Wave? Read AKPC_IDS... Read

Dork Review: L’Oreal Roll’ On True Match

Dork Review: L’Oreal Roll’ On True Match

This week, we’ve got a guest post from Katie Innnes. I’m a big fan of gimmicks when it comes to my make-up. I’m aware this doesn’t make me the grown-up beauty expert I’d like to be, mainly because I won’t buy something unless it comes in pretty packaging or has an idea behind it which is so absurd it kind of makes sense. Take L’Oreal’s... Read

Cloud Nine hair straighteners

Cloud Nine hair straighteners

It’s probably quite clear by now from our recent post that Dork Adore is firmly a collection of GHD devotees. Personally I’ve tried out a few other types of hair straighteners, including the wet-to-dry ones and the cheaper ones, but I always come back to GHD. However, if the beauty buzz in the blogging world is to believed, they may have... Read

JoyofClothes.com: The key to stress-free shopping?

JoyofClothes.com: The key to stress-free shopping?

Clothes shopping online has so many advantages to its real life equivalent. It’s often cheaper, faster and no one seems to mind if you do it whilst wearing a pair of cow print pyjamas. Unfortunately, online shopping tends to lead to some of us *cough* taking on a slightly skewed view of their actual body shape, leading to a wardrobe of clothes... Read

Breastlight: A spotlight on breast health

Breastlight: A spotlight on breast health

Checking your breasts on a regular basis should be as much a part of your routine as booking in a wax or giving yourself a manicure. The thing is, a lot of women (me included) are unsure of what to look for. Things can change a lot over the course of a month and it’s hard know what changes are normal. Which is where the Breastlight comes in.... Read

Dork Rant: Misleading beauty advertising

Dork Rant: Misleading beauty advertising

I’ll be the first to put my hand up and confess to being a bit of a pushover when it comes to the persuasive powers of advertising. Any advert that suggests a product is ‘brand new’ ‘revolutionary’ or ‘the next big thing’ is sure to catch my attention. Heard of those hair removal mitts that claim to be a pain-... Read
